If thats the case i will not tell u i got a few more bird pics here

i checked how many photos i have taken sens januari 12 of this year and i just past 9000.... so i have a few that is not so good aswell
and if the shutter life on the a65 is about 100,000 i need to start saving 4 a new camera if this keeps up, and spring is just around the corner...

Well i was surprised myself

the worst two days i think is this ones
500 hundred on horse jumping event in 45 minutes,
700 hundred on a ski jumping event took maybe 2 hours.

so i haven't put in that many hours its just a fast camera
but i almost always have it with me.
and the rest is moon, birds, sunsets, landscapes and so on

Dennis, camera firms sould work overtime to fulfill the needs of clients such as yourself.

I have to say I passed a couple of 10,000 shots myself with my camera. I'm one of those that love to capture many different subjects and situations...and I love taking chronological progress shots, which means taking a lot of shots .. : )

But with choice of subjects like birds and action events, you're bound to shoot sequence shots which add up.

Let's hope the Sony developers are far-sighted enough to meet the imagination of the Sony customers and create valuable cameras that fill the void that they have created lately. : ))

Hope it hasn't been too painful for the wheel barrow, David. Thorns are certainly hindering when doing some heavyload work... : )

My foot is fine actually. The actual thorn-bite event hapenned long time ago, leaving me behind with a lesson to remember for the rest of my life: now I always remember to walk in appropriate footware when around plants, glass, construction sites.


Thanks a lot. I hope you never get hurt feet-wise and hope the wheel barrow gets well soon with some puncture-fixing aid from you. : ))

I am trying to upload but cannot get it done. I can select the file from my computer, and the Upload bars move prettily, but when it's all done there is no file uploaded. I've looked in the UCP for "my attachments" and some old ones are there but not today's attempt. The FAQ doesn't go through step-by-step so - can someone take my hand and tell me how? The file is 1048x768 but it has a very long name and it's over 500K size.

Thank you Dennis. Well, I guess I should jump into this thread. I got back from Tanzania two weeks ago and we saw over 400 bird species in three weeks. Oh yeah, there were lions and cheetahs and stuff too, but who cares?

The Vulturine Guineafowl was a pet at our first lodge, so it can't go on the trip list, but man, what a shade of blue! a55 w/ Minolta 100-400 APO @250mm, F8, 1/100, ISO 1600.

The Greater Painted Snipe isn't such a great photo, but *any* photo of this secretive bird is acceptable. a580 w/ Sigma 400mm APO Macro, f5.6, 1/1600, ISO 1600. Taken from a fair distance in our safari truck, on a beanbag. Safari photography has good and bad points, but having to rest the camera on the vehicle/beanbag you have to contend with people moving around and jiggling your camera. I tried to stick to high shutter speed and high ISO because the Sony sensor is just so damn good. In my film life I *never* got past ISO 400; almost everything was ISO 200.

The White-browed Coucal needs a bit of cleanup- I don't like to take out sticks and leaves, but that blade of grass going into his throat is annoying. a580 w/ Sigma 400mm APO Macro, f8, 1/500, ISO 200 (must have been really bright light).

Good Sparrow studies Dennis, I think I like the pose in the second one the best. The goldfinch frozen in midair is a good snap too, the wing shadow is stretched down the side of the box because of the angle too the light but yes it’s a tricky one.

What an amazing bird that Vulturine Guineafowl is Argonaut, I’ve never seen that one before and that’s a good catch of the shy Snipe, a photo is always better than no photo any day. The White Browed Coucal is very similar in style to our Pheasant Coucal, nice photo btw and I agree if the tip of the grass was removed so it wasn’t touching that would be a big improvement I think, it wouldn’t need much just a tiny bit would do.

Where I am from, these 3 words will never be heard together in the same sentence! Images of Cockatoos flying from a tree in ones 'backyard' sin't ordinary!

Argonaut: beautiful birds and ditto shots. Those snipes always seem to be good at hiding in places where it's hard to shoot them.

I took my brand spanking new 70-300G and 8x25 binoculars out for their first spin today. Looking through binoculars is a whole different thing than through a VF. It makes the VF of any camera dark in comparison!

Anyway, I again spotted a species I had never seen before. This time, it's a Chiffchaff (Phylloscopus collybita).

As (almost) always, I saw a few Great Spotted Woodpeckers. One of them was scratching itself. This image was taking right after it was done. Looks pretty scruffy
