Flowers 2011 (Photoclubalpha Flora)

Well once again its those pesky Cornflowers in my back garden. All starting to loose their petals now but noticed that one was in exact line with another so popped on the 24-70mm f2.8 and fired off a few shots and settled on this one.

Beautiful colors, and great bokeh. Strangely, when I first opened the pic, it seemed like the one in the back was moving. Probably these old eyes adjusting but it was a cool effect.

That came out pretty good, nice oof efect, the flower itself is an unusual spiky looking one, pretty colour though.

Having an f32 aperture on my 100mm minolta macro and ringflash doesn't lways give me the depth of field necessary to have a sharp image. So with the 15 cm hibiscus bloom flowering in the garden begging to be photographed, I thought I would experiment with focus stacking to maximise the depth of focus necessary to have the stamen, petals and leaves all in sharp focus.
It took three separate shots on the 100mm macro with tiny incremental focussing turns of the lens barrel to achieve this shot.
I used Combine ZP as the stacking software.
Sony A580, Minolta 100mm macro, +1 exposure bias to compensate for the backlit window light setting. ISO 200 1/60 sec at f5.6. No flash.

Hi Longvale - that's a stunning flower portrait - I love the white back-lighting and you've certainly got a lot of detail in to the shot - nice colours as well . f/32 wow - I'd have assumed you'd suffer from diffraction at that aperture; does the stacking negate this effect?
