A/S/P modes with "unchipped" lenses

The A900 won't work in A S P modes if you attach a lens, bellows or a scope with an un-chipped adaptor. I can understand (but not agree) Sony decided to do so on the entry level cameras. But, what is the logic on doing this to the flagship camera?

Sames goes for focus confirmation (this is part of the Minolta heritage...) whay do we need a coupled lens in order to get focus confirmation? Nikon provide this on ANY lens (maual or AF)

I don't think this is a hardware issue, but a software/firmware decision. How long will we have to wait until they fix it?

Considering how many cameras models they have now that don' have this I would say that they won' ever fix it. however you can get adaptors that have focus confirmation for MF lenses at least but not from Sony.

For Nikon the old lenses ar Nikon lenses. in our case Sony is already supporting Minolta AF lenses but they may have consiously decided that they would not support the MF lenses at all other than to give you a lens check off button which, since it was needed to telescopes and things, is still no support at all.
