Color temp. & correction in ACR vs. IDC

Unread post by maratrs13 »

Does anyone know how numbers for the color temperature and color compensation are related in ACR and IDC? When I open ARW file taken with Auto WB in ACR I can read the color temperature and color compensation numbers in the corresponding fields but if I open the same file in IDC the program only says that the WB was set to Auto and doesn't show these numbers. If I try to apply the numbers from ACR in IDC then the result is somehow shifted to yellow/magenta (by about 150K/4(?)) All in all ACR produces a little bit warmer result if the WB is left intact compared to the IDC. BTW the same happened when I opened MRW files in ACR and Dimage Viewer. It seems that ACR uses different scales for color temperatures and color compensations. I am using ACR v. 4.5.

In general, can the numbers for color temperature and color compensation be read from ARW files in converters other than ACR (even if the WB was set to Auto or any other preset)?

Any input is highly appreciated!
