300MM 2.8 HIGH SPEED

i see 300mm 2,8 lens with a aluminum minolta box

and i see also the 300 mm 2.8 with a lens case

here some picture`s





is there some difference between the lenses , is the lens with the box older than the lens with the lens case

can somebody tell me more , i want to buy a 300 mm 2,8

There are two versions of that lens---the earlier non-High-Speed version and the later High-Speed version (same glass, different focusing gearing). Here, both are High-Speed versions, so the accessories (case, bag, strap, filter set) may be different; the lenses are the same.

By the way, the non-HS versions go with the first generation of Minolta AF Apo tele converters; the HS versions want the 2nd-generation Minolta AF Apo-II tele converters. You can mix the lens and TC versions but it's not recommended. Focusing tends to be slow with non-HS lens on Apo-II TC and tends to be inaccurate with HS lens on Apo TC.

i now this these lenses are HIGH SPEED but i hearing that ,
in the first years that minolta make`s the 300mm 2,8 high speed the give you the lens in the aluminum box

the last years the make the minolta 300mm 2,8 high speed , the dont give it in the aluminum bob but in the lens case
so normal the lens with the lens case is younger than the one with the box

Optically, all three of the Minolta 300 f/2.8 are supposed to be the same. I purchased the 3rd. Minolta version of this lens sometime in the late 90’s after the Minolta 9 and Minolta 9Ti came out.

(Minolta AF 300/2.8 APO G (D) SSM).

It came in an aluminum case and a free of charge coupon or certificate to have to have your Minolta 9 upgraded to use the SSM lenses. The SSM lens was a little faster, manual focus was so much smother than the previous two versions. The Pre Focus Function on the SSM lens is very useful. About the only thing I don’t like about the lens is the detachable hood. Its awkward to attach where the first two had a built in retractable hood.

When it comes to optical quality at 300mm, you will be pleased if you buy any of these lenses.

They're not. The first (non-HS) and the second (HS) are the same; the third (SSM) is a new design which is optically superior to the older design (which was pretty good to begin with).
