Changeable weather on the North East coast

We are getting some pretty unstable weather at the moment on the North East coast, all these images were taken last week within a period of about 30mins.

All with A700 and KM17-35 lens, some have been 'worked' on more than others as I'm building up as stock of images for the camera club competition season.

Hope you find one or two that appeal

Wow Murph. I love those shots. #4 is my favourite if pushed. They are all so fresh, crisp and clear - much like the weather I expect . Were you using a tripod and/or filters?

Hi Murph,
Nice shots but if Winston sees them, I'm sure there will be lots of cropping there, for which I agree much.
So here goes.
1-st shot, crop it from the left and top, so the pavement line leads you directly to the highlighted sky part.
2nd shot: forget about the building. Just leave the pavement and the reflection. Allow the viewer to imagine the rest.
3rd: remove most, if not all, of the sky
4th: remove from the bottom
5th: crop from the top

But that's just me. I'm sure Winston will correct me.

Hello Paul,

They're all good but as always some stand out more. I think the best bunch are where you made the sea part of the shot and turned the camera towards the horizon where the sky changed dramatically with the weather conditions.

The sand particles are almost countable in some shots!

I see everything posted on this forum (unless they are devoid of separating blank space) Murph didn't ask for critique, you did

However, I will say this: I almost always have a problem with the horizon in the middle of the frame. For me it greatly reduces the interest because there is no center of interest. When I can't figure out which half is more important, I take three shots The split shot as a record image and two more in an attempt at capitalizing on what I liked about each half. When I do this, I hope for two keepers...almost never happens.

It's nice to get other peoples opinions of your images, and I have no problem with any suggestions, however in these cases I felt the sky was an integral part of the composition and prefered the images the way I displayed them (I know the normal compositional rules regarding 3rd's etc) but I may go back and revisit some of the images at a later date and see if the cropping does anything for me.
