Thanksgiving Sky Fest

Hey All,

Just wondering if anybody on here was planning on taking some pics of the show that will be going on in the south west corner of the sky tomorrow night. I will be pulling my telescope out to see it, but since I haven't gotten the parts needed to connect my 8" telescope to my A300, I sadly wont be able to capture anything.

You could still get a couple of shots with a tripod and telephoto lens of some sort...just a thought, you will need a longish exposure for the planets most likely, and that could be a problem with exposing the moon correctly, I see that Venus is going to be occulted by the moon from some viewing locations...Europe mainly I think.

Ooh! I saw that last night! One of my patients saw some "stars" out of his south-facing window and I thought, "That can't be right..." (down town metropolitan area, hospital district), so I looked and saw two planets! The kid wasn't nearly as excited as I was.

The longest lens I have is a 300mm. I can get some decent shots of the moon with it, but I don't really think I can pull of Venus and Jupiter with it. I will have to give it a shot.

You could see the two planets really bright last night. All the rain we have been having down here must have helped to clear the sky. Can't wait for tonight.

So that's what it was. I said to myself "I haven't seen the moon along with 2 stars"...
It was really beautiful.
