i agree,
my thought was to try and get in the massive amount of parade ground on the ho, it isolates people so much, wonder how francis drake felt there when the spanish armada were in sight and he finished his game of bowls.
but you wise old owls are right as usual

Hi gio67,

Though I was in favour of cropping in my previous post, I still like your more centerfold initial photos. They both would look wonderful on a billboard. In fact, I also think the isolation concept works better with your initial approach especially if you're after creating a theme series like the matching two in your last post. If there are others with the same set-up but with differing subjects and ideas, then you have a good, strong case study of this theme concept of centralising.

I think the idea of cropping is imposed/enforced into the liberated, independent minds of the photographers by the micro stock markets on the Internet. They almost kill a native approach and propell everyone into the same lane of 'thinking in same mind set for stocks only', and that's killing the work of an enthusiast with a richer, fuller mind.

I definitely think that you should continue photography as you feel is right for you, there's more potential in this. And the initial photos are even better than anything any stock image can deliver.

Just wanted to let you know this.

thanks for those comments aster, i'm really glad for them, i felt a bit guilty ( for want of a better word) when i cropped the pic , as it was not what i had intended it to look like, but i thought it must be right, that day i deliberately tried to get the feeling of isolation ,the tarmac sort of arches so i was trying to use the end of the tarmac as a horizon, it never really worked in the others but this pic below is more of what i was trying to get, but not the best picture ,the man had a walking stick too and was stopping every few yards to catch his breath,and looking ahead to see how far he had to go, but the pics i got of him showing the walking stick too always had someone else coming into the frame , it was really busy there that day and i had to wait ages just to get people on their own in the frame with a lot of space around them too, the one of the girl with the dog, the brown dog in the pic was just pure luck as he just popped into the frame ,i was trying to get the girl to the right of the frame walkin into the pic,but the brown dog arrived and she ran away quickly so that was my result, i was quite happy with my luck right enough
