CZ16-80 suitable for Alpha 900's full frame?
Just to make sure... The Zeiss 16-80 is 'optimized for APS-C sensor'. So it's no good on the Alpha 900? Or does it just perform less towards the edges? A phone call to Sony Netherlands didn't get me further than a nervous adolescent stating that he 'couldn't guarantee a proper functioning'...

It auto-crops to APS-C, and performs perfectly on that area. But you can not disable the auto-crop on the A900, so it is not possible to use any area outside the normal view.

David, thank you for the quick response.
So, on the A900 I'm planning to buy, the CZ16-80 would act als a 24-120 mm using only an APS-C part of its full size sensor. In other words, exactly the same as on the A700 I currently own. In that case I think I'll stick to the Minolta 24-85/3.5-4.5 + Sigma EX 28-70/2.8 + Sigma 21-35/3.5-4.2 I have right now. I doubt if the gain in optical quality of the Zeiss warrants the 430 pound investment. Maybe save up a bit longer for the CZ 24-70/2.8 SSM then...

Hopefully on future FF bodies, we can get different shooting formats (crop formats) within a DT lens' image circle, much the same way Panasonic is using extra-large sensors for their higher end LX series cameras.
