)What really has happened is this: both Sony's subsidiary Sony Mobile Display Corporation (SMD) and Seiko-Epson's subsidiary Epson Imaging Devices (EID) produce small and medium-sized TFT and LCD panels for all kinds of industrial and automotive appliances. Their market share in this market is 5 % (EID) or 7 % (SMD), respectively, with the biggest competitors in this particular field being Sharp, NEC, and Samsung.
Now Epson has sold the better part of EID to Sony, including manufacturing facilities, personnel, and patent portfolios.
So maybe some of Epson's panels employing their so-called "Vista Rich" technolgy will appear on the back of Sony digital cameras, sooner or later ...
