Had a recent trip to China.
Meeting this dear 90yr old retired cormorant fisherman made our day.
Picture taken on the Li River in a beautiful small town/village called Yangshuo.

Amazing. My parents had a carving of this guy - accurate down to the last wisp of beard. There must be a tradition with the fishermen of growing to look exactly like the traditional carvings and paintings which show them.

Someone should get his life story before it's gone forever, he's lived through both world wars and more, the no quarter given Japanese invasion of China, (precursor to the second world war), then the Chinese civil war (and much later the cultural revolution), the huge involvement of China in the Korean war, on up to the present day modernization... he's survived it all and is still a Cormorant fisherman at 90....great photo.

Hi John,

I think I saw his brother in Bali last month!! Here are a few other faces from Bali taken as they went about their business while I was on a bike ride from the volcano at Kintimani down to Ubud (a HIGHLY recommended way to spend a day for anyone who is interested!!). Thank you David. I've been around the forum since I bought my first alpha last year but just as a reader. Now that I've made my first post, I'll be like a kid in a candy store for a while at least I suspect! Congratulations to you and the other members, this is easily the best alpha-related site to be found!
