PMB and AVCHD

Unread post by Mark K »

I was quite shocked to find my PMH did not import AVCHD video files....and I have no clue why this is happening. Lightroom 3 did the same again. Both will import MP4 files into their library but not AVCHD
Is there an upgrade?

I don't know PMB well as it is a PC-only program - they must have some licensing issues, as it has now been four years and more waiting for a Mac equivalent. But the software CDs did contain a new version.

I don't have a NEX yet, but I can confirm you that my lightroom 3.0 is importing with no problem the AVCHD video from my Samsung camcorder.

I just bought a Sony DSC-HX5V and the PMB that came with it imports and plays AVCHD.

:x Do I need to connect my camera directly with my PC to import AVCHD?

I tried. Even with PMH, I can only transfer still images. AVCHD needs copying and pasting

Odd. I installed the PMB that came with the camera, and it imports fine. (Older versions probably won't.) However, it leaves the videos on the camera/card -- it'll delete the photos after copying, but not the videos. It tells you this, though, so it seems to be by design. That's the only odd thing I've noticed.

When I do Help/About, my version of PMB is 5.2.00.03250.
