Our regular group of photography enthusiasts (almost 90% alpha users) went for our (almost) weekly outing. This time, it is not a model portraiture shoot outing, but a landscape outing. Where else to do this but one of our favourite spot, the Mengkabong Bridge, overlooking the Mengkabong River with Mt. Kinabalu as its backdrop.
We arrived at the bridge quite early. But "early" is a relative word. To us, arriving there at 5:30 am is early. But to these bunch of guys on the jetty, it is the "end of the day" for them, as they packed up for the night's fishing as the sun is beginning to rise.
#1 The night life of fishermen:

Sony A850 + SAL2470Z. 30 seconds, F9.0, ISO200, 50mm. Photo was shot in cRAW and processed in Capture1 & CS4. Camera mounted on a tripod and shutter was released using a remote release cable. Steady Shot is off.
The weather was not being cooperative. We had a lot of clouds, which do not go well with having a nice sky. In fact, the clouds were so thick that there were virtually no features in the sky, except a pure grey mass of clouds. At one point, it was so bad that it began to drizzle lightly! This is it! We thought this is the end of our session already! But luckily, the heavens was kind to these few hardy photography loving souls. It stopped the drizzle and opened up the clouds for us! The unfolding clouds, showing a clear blue sky behind it is a treat to any landscape photography enthusiast. With Mt. Kinabalu as the backdrop, we got a lot of rays of light as well as gorgeous clouds formation that creates a mesmerizing photographic opportunity. The resulting photographs are simply stunningly beautiful. I had a great time taking these photos, and would like to share them with you guys.
#2 The clouds opens up to reveal a blue sky. Like a curtain....

#3 The clouds formation also casts a mesmerizing reflection on the Mengkabong River's surface.

Sony A850 & Minolta 17-35mm F2.8-4.0. 1/125s, F14.0, ISO200, 17mm. Photo shot in cRAW and processed with Capture1 & CS4.
#4 The backdrop is the majestic Mt. Kinabalu, the highest mountain in South East Asia, showered with plenty of rays of light, piercing through the unfolding curtain of cloud.

Sony A850 & Vivitar 135mm F2.8 M42 manual lens. 1/250s, F16.0, ISO200, 135mm. Photo shot in cRAW and processed with Capture1 & CS4.
