Sony pancake?
Anyone know when Sony are going to start making pancakes?

Welcome, and thanks for not registering here under a different handle. That's very straight dealing.
Sony may not ever do so, but perhaps Voigtländer - aka Cosina - can be persuaded to issue this one:
This is a quick Dynax 7D studio snap of their 40mm f2 Ultron pancake lens for Nikon mount, in manual focus but with CPU chip and contacts to allow focus confirmation and electronic aperture info, etc, to be transmitted to Nikon bodies. They also make it in Pentax mount. We have had this lens and the 58mm f1.4 Nokton to test, on the Nikon D3. The Nokton is superb and produces lovely bokeh, good critical sharpness in the focus plane even at f1.4 or f2. The 40mm is not so hot, does not seem as sharp and has ugly bokeh by comparison. But it would be more like the 58mm in field of view when used on an APS-C camera.
In theory the back focus distance of the Nikon versions would allow an Alpha mount conversion. Cosina also make the Zeiss ZF manual focus lenses for Nikon, and Zeiss works with Sony. Depending on what pressures are exerted, I guess it is unlikely that Cosina as a Zeiss partner will start issuing Voigtländer (now their own brand) optics in Alpha mount to compete with another Zeiss partner.
Nothing beats Betty Crocker's Bisquik for pancakes. I've just spotted that I have a dust speck in the 7D when looking at this shot. Should keep the Bisquik out of the studio!
