SSS with Monopod

I know they recommend that you turn off the SSS or (AS) when using a tripod,
but if you are using a long lens and a monopod, should you turn it off?

Just wondering what others do.

on the monopod with my 300mm I leave sss on, there are still 2 planes it can compensate on. on a tripod though it will ruin your shots if the tripod is steady

heh I just found when I was testing the MLU thing on my A200 that one set I had left SSS on and all the shots were blurry. that was 210mm F16 and I think 1/80 looking at anything other than 100% crop though I guess it would be hard to tell. but we were arguing over a few pixels of blur

heh ya I seriously messed with my own head on some 300mm shots. all the best angles I could get on this one bird were blurred and I didn;t realize what it was untill the bird moved to a less favourable position.

On the A100 leaving SSS on and using a sturdy tripod would not mess up much with image sharpness. But since SSS on A700 is way better you could encounter slightly "shaked" images. I really rely on the A700 SSS, just take a look at this shot http://harmar.photoblogs.am/index.php?showimage=2437 1/10s and handheld!
I tried to photograph the moon with A700 + SAL75300 with a Slik tripod (sturdy one) some with SSS on and some not. Frankly, some shots with SSS on were out of focus, but not all. The remaining with SSS off were sharp.
