Nice image artington. The water splashing alongside the nearest canoes makes for a nice haze and adds to the action.

Is the lens MF only? If so, you had to act pretty quickly.

Nice pictue with the hectic spalshing / paddling . They were especially brave if that was this weekend - brrrrr, chilly!

Thanks and yes, it was manually focused. The trick is to pre-focus on a point and wait for the composition to appear there. F8 gives a fair bit of DOF as this is equivalent to F11 on an APS-C camera

Yes, but they were doing a circuit, which made for some near collisions when two opposing batches met because this is a navigation, part river, part canal and quite narrow.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments. I really am delighted with these little NEX cameras. The 5 is tremendous but i have found it hard to frame accurately without taking out my reading glasses to view the LCD. Also, I am rather less confident with MF on this camera because the Assist highlighting allows a bit too much focus latitude unless you use the magnified view, but in the latter mode the highlighting is much harder to see and for me not posible without specs! So I think the 5 will bevome an indoor or macro camera. The NEX-7 is another matter altogether - no specs needed and MF magnification plus horizon level in the EVF! For me, this EVF is as good as an OVF - not up to that on the a900,admittedly, but perfectly good enough, altbough it does help to shade it in bright light. Indeed, this feature has I think brought MLCs of age and I am seriously thinking of relinquishing nearly all of my alpha kit as I suspect it's going to see little use going forward since I have pretty well everything covered with my legacy lenses and am not a sports or wildllfe photographer.
