Hi all,

I usually don't photograph people as I'm generally not interested in them as a subject. However, since I was at a fair at Castle "De Haar" with our friends and their children, of which the missus and I are legal guardians, I took the chance to get some images of both the children.

All images shot with the Nex3 and Sigma 30mm F2.8 EX DN. PP in LR4. All images marked with an * are clickable for the original image (=best).

On a legal note: I've got written permission from both parents to publish these images online.

1, 3, 6, 9 are my most favorites. I love the composition and the baby's expression of joy in #1.
#3 is a nice candid. The concentration on the girl's face (Rebecca?) is very captivating and the
sweet innocent child in closeup is very adorable in 9.

Thank Sury and Doc. Children have that honest and spontaneous streak over them that you can directly see in their (facial) expressions. That's what I really liked about these shots, you can see just that.

Well done Mark, kids can be a challenge because of their sudden movements and rapid expression changes, but they sure are good to photograph with their perfect complexions, harsh lighting doesn't seem to be very detrimental too them, the light in your photos seems mostly diffused like there was partial cloud cover and you've got the background out of focus nicely I'm guess the parents were happy with those. I would have been tempted to try a bit of fill perhaps on #5 and #6 exposing for the highlight.

Thank you for the hint Greg, I'll try it later this week. As take a second glance to those two images, I think you're right. Didn't notice it too much when I was processing them.

Love the candids, Mark. : )

They sure are genuinely childish/toddlerish in all attitude respects...
Boys are boys and they will enjoy their energy drink and girls will be girls and pose with a flower and ponder on the eternal existince value of a pepple!

Very enjoyable. Where the little boy receives a bountiful of a kiss from mommy and has to smile is pretty hilarious; as if he can't decide if to laugh or to push mom away.. : )
