Leica Offers World's Fastest Aspherical Lens

They are still behind Zeiss, who made a 50mm f/0.7 lens at the same period Canon did their f/0.95. These lenses could only ever be focused accurately because they were designed for long-base rangefinder cameras. I guess I'll never get to see the Leica lens, but I know someone who is bound to get to use it (Jonathan Eastland) and I will be interested to hear his opinion.

We made some test shots with that Canon rangefinder (I don't remember the model) with its 0.95 f-stop lens some 20 or more years ago. The films used were soviet made B&W films 32 ASA and 64 ASA. The results were not great even processed with different chemicals (D-76, DK-50, Agfa Rodinal, etc.).

In the second link the camera used was digital, and I was referring to film era cameras with soviet made B&W and so forth.
So my turn to ask: really?

One lens that I really liked (I mean a lens with a big aperture) was/is the 58/1.2 NOCT (Nikon). That was really a performer. Of course on film. I have no idea how it acts on digital.
