Will you buy an Alpha 99

Re: Will you buy an Alpha 99
I shoot mainly smaal birds with telelenses. APS-C has the advantage here. I would like the wide angle and shallow DoF advantage of the larger sensor in some cases, but these are rare and far apart, so I make due with what I have and am satisfied with the performance and image quality of my a580 for years to come.
I'll pass.
Are you contemplating getting one Doc?

Re: Will you buy an Alpha 99
Nice. I'm certain you will enjoy the camera as you do your A77!

If I get a good price, I'll think about it -that means after the holiday season. Then I see the RX1, that I don't need "at all", and I wonder what to do...

I haven't changed my view from the original poll.
Not only will I not buy an a99, I will not buy another new Sony.

I just don't like the EVFs. I'd sooner buy a good used DSLR.

Same here, though I've not tried the A99 it might be improved in the VF dept. But I very much doubt it will be up to the A900 (which I have tried) which has a fab viewfinder.Atgets_Apprentice wrote:I just don't like the EVFs. I'd sooner buy a good used DSLR.
It's about price too, I might look at something if it's cost effective enough even if it's not what I want.
A99 has come down in price somewhat, but not nearly enough to be attractive to me. £1700 is too high a price to pay for a full frame camera, let alone an SLT one.
I've quite a lot of decent FF glass, but it's looking likely that I'd try a good condition s/h A900 at some point before I would the A99

Had mine out this morning. Shooting in to the sun it was great to know I wasn't burning my retinas, and also able to adjust the exposure so that I could focus and compose .

Re: Will you buy an Alpha 99
Never that interested in the A99 as I had the A77, A850 and indulged my self with the Nex 7. Now that I have the A7r the A850 has joined my Contax G 2 and Minolta Dynax 7 on the semi retired shelf for cameras that I still don't want to part with.
With the A7r it was capacity replacement not type replacement to quote Australian Defence Force jargon. Which means that when it becomes time to replace the A77 it doesn't mean that I will automatically be looking for an APS-C A mount camera. Although if such a beast exists then it would be cheaper than a potential A99r.
But I am open to talking myself into another FF.

Re: Will you buy an Alpha 99
I like a99 and used the a99 for a week. But! It's very expensive camera for FF, for price only a99 body I can buy Nikon or Canon include very good lenses too. Absolutly can't see reason to have a99 without Zess 24-70, but this combination cost as much as Canon d6 or Nicon d610 or Mark III.
Everything in the life unusual!
