Thank you Greg, Caporip and Sury
Greg - you're Alien analogy has an interesting twist as Yellow Rattle is a parasitic plant that attaches itself to its neighbours roots to gain nourishment - a bit like a particular zeno-morphic alien we all know, commonly found on deserted spaceships on alien planets
Sury - your Tweety Pie analogy is also well made as this plant's other common name is Cockscomb
In checking out the parasite thing I found that Yellow Rattle is considered an important plant in the establishment and maintenance of wild flower meadows as it restricts the grass from out competing the flowers. It is certainly doing its job well at Joan's Hill Farm.
