Two new SLR lenses a PMA 2010

I do regard the mirror less and the EVIL cameras as the replacements for the higher end P & S up to the A 5xx models in the next five years. A FF design is possible, although I believe conventional enthusiast and pro grade D-SLR's will survive for several generations at least.

Using their expertise in APS-C sensors and electronics will mean that these cameras will be technically bedded down in the next 2 to 3 years with the electronic viewfinder being the major concern. Once the electronic viewfinders can be established to have the performance of the current penta mirror SLR's , that will be the end of them. After all, how many photographers out there can explain what is the difference between a pellix, a penta mirror and a penta prism ?

The higher end will survive for longer as there will be a demand from more traditional photographers and most pro's with higher physical reliability and performance expectations.

Also look at how long large format sheet film cameras have survived, one or more companies may keep on producing a prestige line.

Err, I have sort of gone the other way. Over the last few months I have picked up a Contax G 2 with the 21 mm, 28 mm, 35 mm - 70 mm and 90 mm when I had some loose change and the price was right on E - Bay. So I went for film with AF rather than digital with mf. With my eyesight trying to accurately focus a range finder is next to impossible although no real problem with a SLR.

It will also hopefully make me less visible when traveling to the local Securitarte and the self appointed goon squads.

I think the a700 successor donated half its buttons and switches to the new 500/4.

I was surprised with the prices for what turned out to be like new equipment, only one lens showed a small amount of wear on a filter rim. For the whole kit I paid less than what I paid for my CZ 16 mm - 35 mm lens out of Hong Kong.

It certainly shows up the difference between what the camera companies are trying to charge and what is available out there. There are other solutions to paying top dollar.

The only problem is getting the film. Since that almost overnight collapse of film in favour of digital I have to order film in bulk and have it shipped in.
