My A700 pictures in a make up magazine !

Unread post by InTheSky »

Wow ! i wanted to share that with you guys !

In the end of spring this year i have been asked from one of my friend to assist him to studio shot for a make up competition (Color Mundo in Montreal). I was there to learn how to build a studio setup, and how to interact with model. I was the man there to take the reflector in my hand and listen to my friend about how to adjust it to give the correct light for him. My friend is a pro photographer with is Nikon equipment, D3, D200, lens, big flash, lens, etc. He is the one who give me the passion to start getting picture of concert and show in bar in Montreal (and even to buy a DSLR after using my Canon s45 too much). In fact he has began in small bar taking picture and now, they calling him when U2 is in town ... (that is another story). Lets go back to my story :-), when i was there with my A700 and some old good gear of Minolta i have got at very good deal on ebay (85 1.4, 28 2.0, 35 2.0, 50 1.4) in my small A100 lower pro bag, i have the opportunity to take some reporter picture of the event. And even, my friend give me the opportunity to attach the PC-Sync connector of the light setup of the studio to my A700. In fact this was the first insertion of this poor virgin connector :-) i was not thinking before if i was using this or not on my camera. I have the opportunity to take 7-8 shots of the one model after my friend finished with him. One week later after some lightroom job on Raw and Jpeg i gave a CD to my friend with my pictures.

Ok ... i will finish soon :-) sorry (imagine in french how i can write, now i'm stopping me because i'm writing like a foot in english ).

THE RESULT :
My friend showed me the magazine last weekend and ... the 4 pages covering the event, 3 pages full of my pictures ! with my name on it ! (except and typo error of Franck , instead of Frank grrrr ... ). After that, one artist took my picture for his add of make up training on another page, and even for her website (with my correct name this time).

I know that probably lot of you are publishing in magazine or another stuff, but this is my first time :-) This is in fact just reinforcing my thinking about this is not the Ni... or Ca ... stuff who are always in magazine.

If you are interest to see the picture ,they are in the Fall edition No 20 of Exceptionail & beauty Magazine.
web site : http://www.exceptionail.ca (but it is not possible to see the magazine there) , search for Frank Nadeau

Probably David can answer this question, is it legal: if i wanted to take picture of the pages of the magazine and publish them in my Pbase ?

Thanks for your time,

Regards,

Frank

Congratulations Frank,

That's a lot of colouring and make up! :D
I thought I'd be looking at glamour photos before I went to the link but all the body-paint and horror-movie make-up proved otherwise.

Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz

yes, it's legal to do so - as long as you photograph the entire page, and write a caption with credits to the magazine. It counts as 'review' purposes.

Following the answer of David and after a fight of 2h with Bill Gate and 2008 server 64bit and my old scanner :-(, i have finally been able to scanned the page of the Magazine with my picture.

Here is the one they have use for the publicity.

Excellent coverage you gave there, and congratulations! I'm loving the guy in the very middle of the photo at the bottom right corner of Page 23...he looks so self-satisfied with his seat that he seems to have taken from the end to place right in the middle, where the aisle should have been!
