Henry,
Thank you and welcome back. We had a good run before the hijacking of site with Yildiz, JB Taylor and Valery. I have not heard from Yildiz and JT. Hope they are checking their accounts and see that everything is back to normal. I lost my account, albeit temporarily and
everything is back to normal.

Sury

It was a very cloudy day. Absolutely no features of note in the sky over the ocean. A little bit of it inland.

Greetings Sury.
Been lurking.
Except for the last one, I would consider these wide angle shots. That being said, I think they are miles above your attempts at wide angle earlier this year. Well done sir. Foreground leads me through the image effortlessly. Bravo.
Like bakubo, I love the first shot. It is realistic and unique at the same time. Only you could have taken it. I would have composed it slightly differently but that is a matter of taste, not talent. Wonderful. You are no longer allowed to rag on your composition skills.

.

Yes, no more complaining about the lack of skills for composing, Sury! :D These are wonderful.

I like them all. Each one has a different taste.

Thanks for sharing,

Yildiz

ps. My account was restored and I can post but I lost all my photos that I uploaded via the website attachment feature. No photos to my name on the site now. Kind of sad. I'll try to post somethings hopefully.

ps2. Welcome back Henry. You were missed! :) Just because people are not responding is no good reason to stop posting. You are too good a photographer for that, in my humble opinion.

Yildiz,
You get to start from scratch. Every day we get a chance to redefine ourselves. Can't wait to see.

That's so true, JBTaylor!

To redefining oneself and a fresh take off into all things possible ... :D

Thanks,
Yildiz

JT, Yildiz,
Welcome back and thank you for your kind words. I am flattered beyond words and humbled too.
Thank you, thank you and thank you.
JT, yes, all of them were taken with Sigma 17-35. Out of curiosity, would like to know how you would have
done the first shot differently?

That is my wife Jaya in the distance. Our typical hikes when I have camera. I slow down, taking pictures while she marches on.

Well Sury, you are either a slow photographer or you wife is a fast walker. Regardless, you are way behind.
Some of the shots are a bit dark on my screen. I would lighten up the shadows a tad.
Regarding shot #1, we have been told not to have a dominant center line on landscapes. However, in this case, I would have lost the brush at the very bottom of the image and panned up a bit and added more water. You would still have enough varying texture in each section to keep the viewer from worrying about the strict rule of composition. Don't mistake my comments as criticism. It's an excellent image.

Thank you JT. I am slow and a photographer and she is a fast walker. :D
I was mentally replaying the location and could not see how I could get to what you are suggesting from where I was.
Perhaps this would do the trick?

Sury,
My comment about shooting the shot just a little differently referred to the first shot in the thread.
As for lighting, I usually eliminate highlights, and then lighten shadows and then bump exposure to get back any sky light. You use Lightroom correct?

Hi, Henry! :)

I remember that I was trying to keep up with your posts in other threads other than the "Best shots" thread. More about equipment than actual photos though, and I still read most of them.

Thanks for sharing,
Yildiz
