As we discussed here are some macros/flowers with Dimage A2. I have not uploaded from A100 yet. But both the cameras started as if I have been using them regularly though both have not been used for more than a decade.

I recommend the SAM 30mm F2.8 macro if you find one cheap, it has impressed me though you are very close at min focus distances.

Barry, I will look for one for my A100/A77M2. These were taken with Dimage A2 in macro mode, at least the first one.

Dimage A2 well it did a nice enough job. That has anti shake I think one of the first?
The older cameras can still do quite well I got annoyed with the limited dynamic range on early ones, still there are workarounds for that.
The A Mount DSLR's are cheap as chips mostly (except the A900/850)

True. The limited DR is evident even in these images if you zoom enough. Having said that I printed a 36"x24" print from a Dimage A1 (the 5MP predecessor).

This thread inspired me to pull out the KM5D, this is the Australian one I got years ago (so I have to take 2 shots sometimes due to the FBF issue!)
with the 30mm Macro SAM, cheap and nasty build, but I quite like the optics on this lightweight lens.

The lens has a soft gradual defocusing quality that is very pleasant to observe.

Photos such as these always prove that brilliant photography is not necessarily in the advancement of equipment but in the eyes and hands of the photographer.
