Daddy's Angel

Unread post by Dusty »

This was right after she took the shot of Lilly, once I had wrestled the camera back from her. Unlike her older sisters, she rarely smiles for the camera, and most of my shots with a real smile on her face were caught when she was laughing.

She's gorgeous Dusty! :D You're very fortunate to be her adored Daddy...

Beautiful eyes and cutest dimpling curve to the right of her lips with a transparent skin texture. I must say the camera and the flash did a good job with her young white skin complexion, the veins and texture are almost tangible.

Very nice eyelashes too! :D

All my girls are beauties. The good looks come from their Momma, the blue eyes come from Daddy.

When taken, she had a bit of a cold. Amazingly, in the full size original, you can see the mucus in her nostrils. The ability to dig down deep into the crevices of the pictures had got me really liking digital.

I must say Dusty, you've caught the resigned, "here he comes with the camera again", look very well. great little subject though.

Lucky you then! :D

I remembered something of my toddlerhood when I read your initial post but did not mention. I remember my father taking photos of mine when I was 18-20 months old. He came with that black film SLR of his and either took photos of mine, my face directly facing the Sun or used a flash that made me blind for a couple of seconds. When a child is facing the strong sunlight or light they tend to squint in order to adjust but the eyes being more sensitive than an adult's still hurt a little and photo sessions become an ordeal than fun. Many times the smile disappears and a hurtful face appears in the photos. I have many of those, so many that when I was around the age of 3 I had a habit of turning away or running away from anyone that directed a camera to me. My smile would vanish long before the shutter was released, even if it was shot at my most favourite fun place, the sandy beach.

But in a shaded garden it was different, it was fun and smiley to have photos taken in our shady play places. :) Maybe she will be happier in shady yet well-lit outdoors.

OMG Yildiz, don't remind me, every time we had our photo taken as kids we had too line up in regimental fashion facing the camera looking into the sun and smile at the birdie...what the? what birdie? and why do we have too try and smile and squint into the sun at the same time...yeeesh I still remember it well. I sort-of understand now why, back then it was B&W roll-film in one of those primitive foldout cameras or the new-fangled 35mm with Kodachrome, but no metering system built in (Dad had a trusty new-fangled light meter, really space age stuff :) ), so it basically was real photography back then...and they actually didn't do too bad either...that was the amazing thing.

:D Greg, you had me laughing, heartily laughing for a couple of minutes at least!! I'm still smiling....espcially the 'regimantal fashion' part which is not hard to imagine at all.

Bless you, you lightened my day! :D :D Thanks.

That's actually her 'regular' camera smile. Sometimes she'll say cheeeeeeese, but she usually drops it .001 seconds before you can snap the pic. Her 4 YO sister, on the other hand, is a ham, and can hold a smile all day for the camera.
