Challenge 3: Through The Eye of A Needle - Submissions

A photo challenge starting January 5th 2009. One image only, normal size restrictions apply (1000 pixel maximum width or height recommended - if vertical we suggest 700 pixels maximum width). No followup images (comparisons) except by those who have not already posted their one image. Discussion welcome - please only repeat images in discussion posts if absolutely essential. Aster has been appointed moderator of this forum in recognition of her commitment to making it great fun. This does not prevent others from setting challenges!

Hello all, :D

I remember David Kilpatrick encouraging other forum members to start photo challenges of their own thinking. Lately I've been coming by events that made me think of the phrase 'through the eye of a needle'. Impossible seeming events becoming possible. I think this phrase can be interpreted by photography quite nicely by capturing a wonderful scene through a slot in the wall; impossible landscape scenes; a hard to photograph journalistic event; literally looking through a keyhole or a needle's eye...

You can go biblical or interpret the phrase to your heart's desire as you see fitting to your own life, surroundings and composition purposes. :D Fly on your own and all the way!...macros...wide-angles...telephotos...fish-eyes...

Good luck hunting through the archives or shooting for the new. :)
You can submit as many samples, experimental shots as you like but please upload only one photo per post to make things easier to track by members as they are the only ones to make a selection.

Yes, it does! :)

Members will make the final judgement call of course!

But, Dr. Harout, one wonders what was in the eye of the 'needle' that got you two so intensely focused and interested? :D Nice shot with the Nikon. Thanks for sharing the camera and scan info.

DK - just make sure that it is a camel and not a dromedary given the weather in Scotland. :D

Slightly turning it on it's head, Here's the eye through the needle!

Miss Emma forced me to play blocks with her this morning, and since we built quite an arrangement, I wanted to photograph it before she knocked it down. Then I got the idea of photographing her thru the opening for the challenge. The first one didn't really work, as I didn't have the distance to back up and get both the blocks and her in focus, and I still only have the internal flash.

This one worked, however.

A350, 18-70 kit lens at 30mm, f8, 1/60, ISO 400, flash on, Aperture mode, manually adjusted WB in IDC, slightly cropped in PhotoScape and resized.

Dusty
An a700, an a550 and couple of a580s, plus even more lenses (Zeiss included!).

I'm sorry to be late in posting something. I finally got around to looking through some photos this afternoon. This was a bit tough because I had 2-3 photos I wanted to use. I guess I will go with this one. These young girls are in a tiny village on the Mekong River in Laos.

Excellent Henry. I like very much this style of photos. Probably wouldn't be that great in color.

You're free to upload as many photos as you like for this challenge as long as each photo is in a different post so that members can track them and link to a particular one if theey wish. And the challenge is open-ended, you're not late.

Very cutely eye-lined 'needles' you have here! :D
