Hi Stevecim,

Much as I like seeing butterflies in action, I think the tiger shots stand out of the bunch. He gave you nice opportunities for your shots moving about his courtyard and yes, he really does blend with the surroundings.

Nice getting to know the Melbourne tigers! .. and other creatures of coourse..

the first picture`s of the butterflies are not sharp , i now it is very difficult
the best way to get the butterflies sharp , is to use a monopod

the last tiger picture is very good , great colours and shadow

I was in 2 minds over that. 1. Make the tiger stand out. 2. try and show how it blends in.
Crop + Save as: Now I can enjoy both, you just have to like Digital Photos.

Yes I have to agree, even with SSS it's to hard to get sharp photos at 300mm hand held and low shutter speeds, also found that after 20 mins in the hot butterfly house, sweat was starting to run down my face and my glasses where starting to fog up

the best way , for the butterflies , is to used the minolta/sony 100 mm macro 1:1 , sigma 105 mm or the tamron 90mm macro is also good
in combination whit a monopod
with butterflies it is very important that you take a lot of shot`s , it is very difficult to get both feelers sharp

here in the netherlands , in the zoo , i taken also picture`s of butterflies , i must wait a fifteen minuts , for the fog is away from the lens

I love the tiger shots. I was just lamenting the other day that it will be awhile yet before Spring arrives, and I can get to our world famous St. Louis Zoo to grab my fill of animal shots!

One day I hope to do a tour of world zoos, so far I've only been to the 3 we have in Victoria and Adelaide Zoo (that was back in the film days)
I think next will be Sydeny Zoo and the Australia Zoo in Queensland
