D. Kilpatrick's Signature-Does anyone see this?

Unread post by aster »

Hello all,

I realized that since this morning I can see additional information of my IP number and ISP and a link to Photoclubalpha.com in David Kilpatrick's signature. This info only appears in the last post David sent to the 'battery thread' but doesn't show in his previous posts to the forum.

Do other members also see the additional info on their IPs and ISPs and a link?

Thanks,
Yildiz

Don't worry, only you can see your own ISP etc. No-one else can.

Thanks David,

I figured I was the only one viewing my info but I guess this is a new feature and we'll be seeing it as part of your posts from today on, as they are not appearing with your previous posts.

The link to the main website is a good idea.

Funny thing is, when I was reading the same post I didn't see mine, I saw David's port address, ISP, OS and IE version...although there seems only a slight difference, Telstra here have a subsidiary (Bigpond) that handles the internet.

And it cannot seem to tell Opera from IE6.

Well, I don't see why putting this extra info in the signature is of any use to people browsing the forums
but each to his own.

As for the link to the main site, well that is appropriate for DK but a forum page already has the typical
top-left link to take you back. If I was being picky I would add a link back to the forum index at the
base of the page next to the "return to <thread>" link.

But this danasoft.com service got me thinking since some of their gimmicks guess your location.
Maybe someone could build a photographers weather report
based on location.

For example. In you area the probabilites of the following are:
Sunrise potential xx
Clear sky xx
Very good visibility xx
Sunset potential xx
Morning mist xx
Also maybe sunrise and sunset times and sun direction clock.

where sunrise and sunset are good based on cloud levels and coverage.

I'm generally using Metcheck for UK 24h forecasts.

I noticed this too, but just figured it was DK playing about and stuff! Seems I was right.
No need to panic, it's not big brother ;-)
