Lens information on exif

Just curious but if the EXIF information cam be more persistent then our life will be easier.

I noticed the DxO Optics Pro offers Sony lens information but.....not only part of my Canon lenses.

Yes Vidgamer, I had that when I was using XP but I haven't been able to get an exif list popup in Windows Explorer on a RAW (with lens info) under Vista, I reinstalled everything I could think of that I had installed in XP (Microsoft Digital Image 2006, Corel Photo Paint X3, Corel Capture X3), but so far zilch with Vista.

I'm pretty sure it was part of the Sony software install that allowed the popup for RAWs. (And, the first version, the one that came with my A100 -- I presume it also is in the newest package, but you never know.)

ps. E6 is my shorthand for Adobe Photoshop Elements6, not a bad app actually.

I set the right click menu item >properties>opens with>Sony Image Data Converter (on an ARW file in Windows Explorer), to set the default .ARW editor...instead of E6, just to see if that would make any difference...but so far no dice, maybe after a reboot....but as you say Vidgamer, IDC does show the lens model info in the image properties..no problemo, only thing is, you have to start IDC up to find out what lens it was you used, if you can't remember...under Vista at least. I'm wondering if it could be an anti pop-up thing going on, Vista isn't keen on pop-ups, that's for sure.

That should set it so that you can double-click the file and launch your editor of choice. The EXIF display is the result of a plug-in application that has to be "hooked into" Explorer. So, this needs to be installed. I'm pretty sure it got installed for me as part of the initial IDC install, but I'm not sure at exactly what point (it's been a while!). Maybe there's a separate utilities install; I just installed everything.

IDC 3 only shows model info for Sony and Minolta lenses, as far as I've seen. It ignores the Tamron & Sigma lenses I've tried. I use EXIFTool along with the GUI front end, and recently downloaded "PhotoME", which is neat.
