Dog Competition

Spent an hour at a dog competition. What can I say except "controlled chaos".
Dogs run down a runway, hurdle 3 obstacles, bounce into a box that shoots out a tennis ball which they must catch and then run back to the other end, clearing the obstacles again.

These dogs go nuts for this stuff. The humans are just as enthusiastic. They form teams and the whole team in timed as each dog runs the gauntlet.

My a700 cannot focus fast enough to track these monsters so I had to wait for the dogs to run into the focal plane. It was good practice and good fun. However, the constant barking is like hearing babies cry. I was ready to leave after 1 hour.

The in-focus rate and the plane of focus is selected well. The amount of self-observed resolve on the dogs' faces are amazing; they are really 'obsessed' with the idea of competing. I'm sure they are aware that this is a contest when they see and hear so many dogs restless and barking with enthusiasm.
They indeed are trained to focus on their objective.
