You're right I wouldn't want to be bitten or stung by any poisonous creature! Once is sufficient to have a lasting experience for a life time.
I was stung by a scorpion when I was 5 and living by a lake. Scorpions love to habitate around wet rocks and pebbles and I had the misfortune of attempting to pick up one rather big piece of rock when one of a couple of scorpions stung my finger. Getting to the city and the hospital was a big fuss, frustration and quite the pain for me. They surely can cause an immense pain that had me screaming. And thankfully they treated the finger and I was told the poison was completely drained off from my finger.
Never pick up rocks around lakes and in arid climates like deserts because there's always some creature and its family residing there to escape the heat of the Sun or daylight.
But to this day I find these creatures amazing and interesting and still go around to see what they are doing in their habitats.
