Minolta 50mm F1.7, old or new version? and 17-35 question

I'm about to buy used Minolta 50mm F1.7 and I see that there are two versions: regular one and the one wchich says "new" on box. Google says that "new" version has changed internals. I'm wondering if there is visible difference in shots taken with old and new version? My friend has old one and results are awesome. May I expect similar quality with "new" version or should I rather buy old one?

I also want to buy something to cover 17-35mm. I'd love some Minolta 17-35, they're still available here brand new but a bit too expensive for me ATM. Do you have any opinions about Tokina 20-35 F3.5-4.5 or Soligor 19-35 F3.5-4.5? Are these two brands worth looking at their products?

the shots in that thread that are on the amusement park ride are all from that lens. it focuses quickly too otherwise these shots wouldn't have worked. I have the old 50mm a well and it is a good lens I can't compare it to the new one though

Actually, it's harder to focus manually, due to an even steeper pitch of the focus ring. I'd prefer the original version, but for mechanical reasons only. The glass is the same in both.

I received my 50mm/F1.7 RS today, however was away on trip so didn't have chance to try it except for some indoor shoot. Looks great. I'll give it more testing tomorrow. Thanks for your informations regarding this lens. Now I've just three more to get, but it may take some time

1. Something to cover 17-35mm and with better sharpness and colors than kit lens.
2. Real wide angle, probably Sigma 10-20mm (last on my list due to its price).
3. Some used beercan in good condition. I already have Sigma 70-300mm but if beercan has such superb sharpness and colors as 35-70mm F4 than I just must have it no matter what

I'm also wondering if 24mm F2.8 would be usefull for me. Sometimes they're used ones available at low price. Guess I'd buy one some day. Also, do you have any suggestions which lenses are, uhm, dedicated or recommended to macro photography?
