The race car transporters had a parade, (big race coming up next weekend) I went to a place on the route where I thought there would be not too many people and not much difficulty finding a parking spot....hmm

Neat shots, Greg! What racing series was it? The second truck there looks almost like a "dekotora."

Hi Kevin, I'm not really a truck expert, but they said in the paper that these were worth about 3 mil apiece, they sure were nicely presented...
I think the race series is one unique too here (Oz), it's called 'V8supercars'....the race car I had a look at at work on Sat morn as they unloaded it for display actually was only like a car on the street in external appearence only, everything under the skin was pure race car...like an F1 or an Indycar with a body shell dropped over it, but using a fully worked V8 engine instead of a dedicated race engine...I haven't even heard one run yet, this is their inaugural race here in this neck of the woods on a specially built race track smack dab in the middle of everthing, now there are detour signs all over place, and two of the main arterial roads are barricaded off and some are griping..ah well, you can't make and omelette...

Ah! Looks like a fairly patriotic racing series; mostly Australian manufactured cars. It reminds me of the Trans Am series over here.

This is from the V8 Supercars technical rules:

C 1.1 Technical Definition and Class
1.1.1 The requirements of this Division C apply to V8 Supercars, which are defined as largescale
Production Touring Cars comprising a specialised class of 5 litre, Australian
produced, right hand drive, four door Cars, fitted with pushrod two-valve normallyaspirated
V8 engines.
1.1.2 There is only one class of Car the V8 Supercar with engines of up to 5000cc capacity
fitted to Cars of which at least 25,000 examples, meeting the definition of Family of a
Vehicle, must have been produced.

Yeah, they are cars made locally but have strong ties too the US parent companies of Ford and GM, actually Holden (OZ flavoured GM) was exporting cars too the US, re-badged as Pontiac (I think..well fairly sure, I don't think it was Olds or Chev), I don't know if they still are tho...they still export a lot of cars to the middle east (the posh ones) under the Cadillac badge I think.

Yeah we got them as the Pontiac GTO (Holden Monaro, 6.0 L V8) and G8, both with RWD V8 engines. Though it seems Pontiac is no more...right when they started selling delicious cars!

Surely they can't let those wonderful car brand names disappear...what a tragedy that would be, maybe if we took up a collection....
Here in OZ we were raised generation after generation with a sort of tradition of Holden (GM) versus Ford, it's nearly like north vs south in the US, so this V8supercars organization is capitalizing on that, promoting the same diet of competition, but it's all regulated of course, it's not actually legal to go and shoot Ford owners or anything.

Yeah, the first car I owned was a holden, so I'm a closet Holden fan, but curses...my best friends I'm going with a Ford freaks....damn!
Hmmm panning at 300KMH I better practise a bit...

I once saw a show on TV where they showed Trucks with oodles of trailers crossing Australia. I found that really fascinating. Over here you can see 1 trailer max. But despite all the glistening chrome and aluminum, it's still a tough job...I wonder if they put them on autopilot when deep in the country where you wouldn't cross another car for weeks ...

Hi Brian,
I've been away at the big race all day, practise session today and familarization for the drivers on the new track they've never seen before. (I think they've gotta have some slightly loose screws too want to approach corners that fast).

Mate, if those trucks belong too you they're excellent trucks.
Hmmmm trucks have an [L] plate, the bikes have an [L] plate (I assume), the cars have an [L] plate...I know, you advertise [L] plates...
seriously, you must be a driving school, I think...best I can come up with.
