Testing new a700?

I just bought an a700K, the clearance display model from a local camera store for $799. Price was too good to wait any longer. It comes with two week satisfaction guarantee and then the standard one-year Sony warranty. Is there anything special I should do to make sure it's working properly? My plan is to take some shots with the a350 using the same lenses and compare them. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Great price! The A700 even now is an excellent camera. Check to make sure you have version 4 firmware and if you don't then download it and install.

I am not the tester type so when I get new gear I just go out and use it some. If it seems okay then I am good to go. Testing is really boring for me, but I am glad that some people like it because I can read what they discover.

Once you have started using it then feel free to post any good photos you get.

Being a display model I'd have a good look at the mirror to make sure these no damage from people pressing on it with their fingers.. I've seen people do this to display models and I don;t think I've ever seen a display model without fingerprints on the mirror.

I suppose it's not a big deal but the mirror mechanisms are delicate and at least on film SLR's . those mirrors are silvered on the top of the glass not the bottom so it's damaged easily.

So far it works great. Best way to sum it up is "it's damn fast!" Here are a couple of pictures of my two favorite subjects.
