A couple of observations on using the a900

I was taking some pix of my tennis-player son this weekend and realised that the bright 100% vf on the a900 allows one to use it in much the same way as a Leica rangefinder - ie right eye on the viewfinder and left eye on the subject. Maybe this is well known to all here but it has come as a very pleasant surprise to me. I'm also very impressed with the quality of the extra-fine jpgs which may obviate the need to use RAW most of the time. I've owned this camera for a few weeks now and find the a700 now gets left behind. It is a magnificent instrument.

Ref. Arlington's observations above I only hope that the new A500/550 and 850 will resemble more the A900 than the new A2/300 cameras as photographic tools. I am really looking for a top notch APS-C camera that will make me leave my A700/350 at home. Not worried about Video - just looking for a DSLR with A700 functionality but a sensor as good as or better than the A350 but free of noise at higher ISO settings. That would "make my day".

Does anybody use their left eye? I was confused enough when people talked about manipulating the AF point selector with their nose.

I'm lefty while photographying. But I keap both eyes open, practice that I learn back in the time chimping didn't exist. The only "bad" thing about (in my case) is that sometimes the people I photograph think I'm kind of weird...

I do. Even after the eye surgery, my right eye is not up to photographing with it.

My nose has never caused a problem with my 350.
