The gifs you post though are all garbled for me and I can't make anything out.

Can you post a screen shot showing a garbled GIF?
Anyone else having this problem?

I have a garbled image on two different computers. On one system I use Opera as my browser and have a 1900x1200 monitor. On the other system I use IE-6 as the browser and have a 1280x1024 monitor. Neither system shows an image that I can read.

That GIF is the only problem image that I can remember encountering here.

Thanks to you and Javelin for your reports. The problem is clearly mine. I suspect the problem is TrueType (a Micr$oft font anti-aliasing gizmo). I have turned it off.

Does this look any better? Is there any chance that you are operating an LCD monitor at something other than its native resolution?

Problem solved. My GIFs had transparent backgrounds, very convenient with the alternating light backgrounds of the subsilver2 forum template. It's a total disaster when the background goes dark in twilightBB template. When that happens, you see mostly the antialias marks lit up like fireworks.

well I'm glad that was solved. I checked other machines around the office too and found them the same as mine I just didn't get a chance to reply until now. The last gif you posted looks fine. did you get the font problem worked out?
