B&W Long exposure with A-550

Well, i've been doin some experiments with my A550.
Unfortunately the weather in Portugal is a mess... cold, snow, rain ... wind.


So the small gaps between the bad weather, try to make some quick experiments...

this one was a 30 sec f29 with a CZ 16-80. It was almost dark, and the light was very very very dim.

I assume it's the sea with a creamy appearance due to long exposure. I like it.

Hi Pedro, I really like the detail in the foreground, constrasting with the milky smooth sea. A pity there is not more detail in the sky, but overall I like the feel that long exposure has given the shot, and I like the B&W treatment you have given it.

Yes the creamy sea is due to the 30sec exposure.

The sky, well, i can't do much there since there were almost no clouds in the sky.
And this was a quick testing since it was 2ºC outside and i was not wearing any proper clothing ehehehe

Pedro, I think the contrast is a bit high for my tastes. I love the creamy sea, but the foreground seems akin to a line drawing!

Can you do another conversion with more shades of gray? Maybe more won't show because of the shooting conditions, but if they do I feel it would vastly improve it.

I will try to do that this evening. Since the area where i live was "fustigated" by 200km/h winds a and a twister ... ( yes, i'm in Portugal ... it was just weird ... 3 trees were pulled out of the earth ... and they are 10+ meters high ) there was no electricity .

Hope you get your power back soon. Two years ago we had an offer from Hilton Vilamoura to take a weekend break in December. Big mistake - it rained so hard roads were closed because of flooding... Portugal has Atlantic weather in winter, I think, as you would expect.
