Bored at work macro edition
I was bored today at work in between cases. I wanted to do a little macro work, so I found a display stent and an expired coronary guide catheter. I used a piece of printer paper as a background and the overhead surgical light for illumination. Minolta 28-85 macro, ISO 100, f22, 1/30 sec, Let me know what you think. I don't do much macro, but I have to admit that it was fun.

Excellent! It is an artful composition, meaningful to your work and your hobby, what more could you want?

We don't see such equipment on daily basis....You should send in more shot-at-work-macros to the forum.

I agree, interesting, but you can skip the photos of these items being put to practical use...if you don't mind.

I think you may have just started a new art form John - medical macro
. The little zig-zaggy thing is great.

@Greg- Don't worry about any blood-n-guts photos from me. When we do these pocedures we go in through a 2 mm hole in the skin through a plastic tube. not very messy at all (usually).
@Birma That is a stent that we would use to open up an artery during a heart attack. Normally it would be crimped small onto a balloon that would then be inflated in the artery, leaving the stent behind. I would love to have more to photograph, but at about $750USD to $2500USD cost from the manufacturer, I don't have any more to play with! Thanks everybody for the comments. I have a few more ideas... Stay tuned.

In your cost analysis don't forget to add the 1 hour of lost productivity because I was goofing off!!
