Finally! After weeks of gloomy weather with fog, snow and severe overcast today sun was shining the whole day long. Lucky for me its weekend and I had time to take my cameras for a walk. It was pretty cold (-12 degrees celsius) but who cares

Fog hasn’t entirely disappeared and was settling down over Slopnice village.



Snow fields may look fabulous when sun is shining down on them through fog.



You’ve already seen very similar shot but taken in summer. Now see how it looks in winter

Looks nicer than our miserable piles of not-yet melted snow and loads of dirt and grit and salt - and no sunshine...

Well it most definitely was worth the effort, those convey the notrhern hemisphere winter feeling very well, and I've never even been in one.

Hi Hawk - I really like the shots into the sun - a really nice quality of light with the foggy sky. -12 sounds very cold to me so well done for braving these temperatures. I know Polish people in the UK who say that it sometimes feels colder in the UK as it is a "damp cold" here in the UK. Never having experienced both I can't say, but -12 sounds cold enough!

Unfortunately I can't do anything about my disappearances Doc Instead I try to make my photos better and better (still have much to learn ). Going out at these temperatures isn't that bad if there is no wind and air is "dry" so you're defintely right Birma. "Damp" cold is in my opinion worst thing for us, photographers. I was on short walkaround earlier this winter with -1 "damp" cold. It took 3 hours for my cameras and lenses to dry completly. Yesterday they were ready to use after one hour.

Currently there is -15 degrees in full sun but I'll stay in home today At night temperature goes below -20. It may sound cold but I remember winter few years ago when we had -25 during day and over -30 at night for almost two weeks.

Greg: they use salt here too to keep roads clean. Lots of salt. I hate it. Thats why many cars rust rapidly. I'd rather like snow on roads and be allowed to use tires with thorns. Its much safer than using regular tires on semi-melted snow/ice.
