I wasn't going to send this but after reading some threads of members who had issues with their Alphas I took out my A100 which is almost 2 years old now and shot the Saint Sophia right after the snow ceased falling.
I seem to be one of the fortunate ones that never had a single problem with the oldest Alpha model and hope that its successors will be just as long-living when in my hands and command...
A100 may be a little noisy perhaps but always ready to take a scene.

Here's Hagia Sophia as shot tonight. A100 and CZ 16-80mm
Lovely glow in the sky. I recently acquired another 7D - after selling mine - and this one seems to be in a different league to the old one. Puzzling over shots which enlarge to A900 size and appear just as sharp as A900 originals! So older cameras should never be dismissed.
Yildiz, nice one! I have only been checking here intermittently for the last few months because of travel, but I don't recall seeing any of your posts for a long time. I hope all is well.
I shot the frame only few minutes after the wind ceased and the snow flakes settled on the ground hence the clear view and the glow. Apparently it was still snowing a little weakly over the Hagia Sophia which is the cause of the glow altogether. On other days with different weather conditions we don't see any glow in the sky but only the walls of the basilica washed with spot lights. The sky remains pitch black...well, almost.
In fact, it was your article on the history of Alphas and Minoltas on the 25th anniversary of Alphas that inspired me to take the shot. I hope my A100 lasts as long as some of your very old Minoltas. I'd be very happy to make comparisons like I read from you and other members on the image qualities and features some day. All of A100's dials, body and features are intact and working like new so I believe that's to happen ...

Yes, I certainly agree that it looks other worldly and as though Peter Pan will swing into the view any moment and start a conversation on his Neverland daily adventures... As for Alice feeling as though in the wonderland, I'm glad the traffic and the city noise don't make their way into the image! She might have called out in a queenly manner to the drivers "Guaardss! Off with their heads this minute!".

And -ditto- from me ! Great colour and detail. I think you demonstrate what a great combination the A100 and Cz16-80 is. I am still very fond of my A100 and I think I will be keeping it despite having the A700 now as well. I ordered the A100 as soon as it was announced so it must be getting on for 3 and a half years old now. It is probably getting jealous as the A700 is still the new toy, but I will going back to the "old faithfull" A100 for landscapes soon.
Nex 5, Nex 6 (IR), A7M2, A99 and a bunch of lenses.
I know how well you use your A100 on British landscapes and more. They were amazing, no need to be modest because you made some great photos with the kit lens Sony 18-70mm. Sound signs that photographer matters the most above all.
I'm sure the A700 is in very good hands.
I was working on the daylight version of the same scene since the Sun is out to melt the snow and create interesting silvery shimmers on the surface of the water.
Hmmm, after all the construction of that illegal building I think Yildiz got mad and blasted all buildings in front of her own and created a good vue. Good job... I mean the shots
BTW Yildiz, we are having that cold and snowy cyclone here. brrr
I zoomed at maximum with the lens and then cropped the roofs and chimney tops in Photoshop to get these rather less crowded scenes.
That illegal construction is still there on the West side of our building unfortunately. Ironically enough, it's been proven illegal at many levels of intent and construction codes. Every single design and construction decision was manipulated to attain a larger and higher building to steal the view from its actual legal owners...We'll see if justice will take place to remove the code-exceeding sections...by demolition of course!
If that blizzard is coming in, then time to get into really warm clothes! It was fun for me, all that snow and wind. It's been quite a long time ince it last snowed in Istanbul. I really missed it and the way it magically transformed the city's appearance...Snow suits Istanbul....and I love snow flakes flying around!
