I posted this image elsewhere in the forum, then came across your "Trees" thread, and thought today's shot of my tree all iced up from yesterday's ice storm would be relevant. Anyway, here it is, taken hand-held with my A200 and Minolta 100-200mm F4.5 lens.

Hi David.
Yes, it's on The Mound in Edinburgh, taken on the last night of the festive light display.

The other shot is in the grounds of Bothwell Castle during the recent snowfall.

Lots of great tree shots, besides those mine is a bit oh hum, but it is a tree, actually it's a very large tree and difficult to seperate the bottom from the background, I think I've ridden past it (pushbike) about three times before and stopped to take a photo, and wasn't happy with any of them ...this time I got right down horizontal on the ground to get that required angle, (I wonder what the people driving past behind me were thinking), still not wonderful but it'll have to do.

Trees are very good photo subjects and you guys brought some incredible and creatively shot photos in. I'm joyously enjoying their grandeur.

That's an awesome tree ! Everything about it is great. Composing a photo with this one surely is difficult. It's so symetrical and proportional that one has to do something really creative and time-consuming to frame it to one's liking. Australia's wild side is impressive, be them the animals or the flora and trees...

Thanks for sharing your 'atombomb mushroom-like' tree. Very friendly and inviting for a good picnic spot after a loong time in the wilderness taking landscape shots.

ps. Actually there is Sizzler's, Hungry Jacks, Kentucky Fried, Big Mac's (if your so inclined), Chinese, Pizza, the Cheesecake shop (they sell the most yummy cakes), all within a few K's of there, and ok for a picnic snack under the tree, your pick, my shout....whenever.

Yildiz is right - that is a great tree Greg. Really great shape. Brilliant for sitting under and climbing i expect .

I've commented on Mande's Loch Lommond shots in another thread, but zowie , that is a great scene, beautifully captured - what glorious colours. That is a real "tingle down the spine" shot.
