Nice colour Ewan - as Yildiz says, they really seem to be soaking up the sun.

Congratualtions from me as well pbr, Crocuses are great and I like the dramatic lighting. Looks like you had to get nice and low for that one .

Well, the rain held off and so I had another poke around in the garden to see what I could find. I had made a quick improvised bean bag (or more correctly mung bean bag) for some of the low shots, and as I was at home I had the luxury of a blanket to lie on.

I'm embarrased to say that I have no idea what some of these are . Rest assured I am scanning the interweb to find out .

Loved the creamy colour and texture of this one. First shot, just the Min AF 35-70 on the A700, the second with the Min CL49-200 close up lens added.




Standing up for this shrub that has these multi-headed flowers. I like the way the stamens come right out of the small flowers. Min AF 35-70 + CL49-200.

Spring might just be getting going, but the Viburnum has just about finished flowering.

I can't believe Birma's garden - lungwort and naturalised hyacinths flowering NOW? This is so far ahead of the Tweed valley 20 miles inland but only 150ft above sea level for my garden. I've just been trimming back stuff and filling the first garden waste bin collection of the year, they start picking it up weekly tomorrow.

Thanks Tom - for me I think the improved viewfinder in the A700 has made a big difference, esp. when it comes to manual focus shots.

Hyacinths - of course, should have got that one. Lungwort is a great sounding name, and I'm sure I'll remember that one now . The other one I didn't get earlier (small white flowers) is Laurustinus (thanks BBC plant finder). The difference in seasonal changes over relatively small distances in the UK always surprises me. When we were in Northumberland on Friday the hedgerows were thick with snowdrops, but they have all completely finished here in Worcester. When I go to Somerset (100 miles South) tomorrow I expect things will be 1 to 2 weeks further advanced again. We also have a very sheltered South facing garden which is probably kind to the plants.

That is a lovely shot of the blossom John. The diversity of plants in my garden is entirely down to the previous owners who were keen gardeners - we're just able to keep it under some control, but I'd still rather be taking pictures of it than working in it .

Nice shots in the rain Yildiz . I can see it is most definitely a day for umbrellas. I especially like the first shot of the blossom, and the rain dripping from the blooms.

Beautiful flowers Aster!
I finally got out to do some shooting, so here is a flower that is not from one of my trees. I think it is a Ragwort, but I'm not sure.. Hope you enjoy! Oh yeah- Taken with the 100-300 apo.
