For me, the 1st image has a dominant foreground that is overwhelming. Very close but not quite up to the result of the last 2.

It's just my personal style, but I am all about BIG foregrounds. It's all good, as taste in art is subjective......

Really enjoying your work in this thread Lonnie. I am traveling next week and want to do some landscape photography. I am renting the a900 and the ZA 24-70. What is your camera set up? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Skip the 24-70 and rent the 16-35. For landscape work, you won't regret it. The field of view on that lens is off the hook. I shoot the a900 and the 16-35. You can't beat it for land scape work. Most of these shots were on Vivid +2 Contrast +2 Sat +3 Sharpness and + 1 brightness Zone 0.

Hi Lonnie,

Nice shots of yours covering the Salt Lake. There must be interesting surfacial reflections and textures all due to the salt deposits and the surrounding flora.

I wonder how the region looks like in late evening or at night when there's a moon to shine on the salty terrain.

This was an interesting spot I found last night. It was a little "delta" area where several small springs/streams were flowing out to the lake. I got soaked, covered in mud/sand and may have ruined a pair of shoes in the process, but it was worth it. I was using all the extra water to my advantage photographically speaking....
