Dilapidation

I went out on a project and did a a graffiti shoot yesterday. The artwork wasn't particularly good (the scratchers had ruined the good stuff). I ended up shooting a lot of close up stuff, which ended up being pretty textural and interesting. I seem to be building a collection of these, which gets my creative juices flowing and makes me think of other possibilities. Most of these are from yesterday with one or two others thrown in for good measure.

The narrow DOF hurts the 2nd image. All the others are solid efforts and would get my juices flowing as well. It's always rewading to find subjects within the object.

Very nice abstract images - I can imagine several of those as "designer" pictures on the walls of a modern office or restuarant. #3 works best for me - no idea why

Pretty cool set Lonnie. I think 1,3,4 are the best.. I like the very man-made pattern of the round rivets thrown in with the very random natural decay of the metal. (with the great colors too!) Too bad the good graffiti was damaged. What metal structure is this? John

I think I agree. I like the color and the tonality, but really wish I would have shot it a little wider. (It was a 1.7 I wish I would have taken it up to 4-5.6). Anyway, the whole shoot was an experiment, sort of a "when life hands you lemons, make lemonade sort of thing". One thing I like doing my my photography is taking the stuff 99.9% of people miss or walk right by on a daily basis and making it "intersting". I have a feeling that this 30 mins of shooting is going to turn into something bigger.

This is very nice fresh stuff, Lonnie! The more three-dimensional work at the top is very appealing, though I'm afraid Sonolta burnt me out on straight graffiti shots--I actually double checked your signature to see if Don had rejoined us here.

Lonnie to be honest I couldn't make up my mind about your first set, whether they were junk, (cracked and peeling paint over rusted steel), some sort of sociological message, or actually had some artistic merit...still can't decide, but I do quite like those last three images, I like the fresh look and the completely irrelevant abstract presentation....and I usually don't even like abstract....usually.
