Butterflies

I went to a local(ish) butterfly house a few days ago and came away with these images.








Taken on the A700 with a Tamron 90mm fitted.

Very attractive colours and good exposure, also good specimens (for once, butterfly farms often have very poor examples which love the camera and perfect specimens which just never come near!). Good bokeh from the Tamron too.

At first sight, I said to myself "what a great lens". Prior to this topic, I was looking at pictures on http://zeissimages.com/ and under the influence I thought it was a Zeiss.

Nice shots, especially the second one. I like the way the butterfly is balancing the flowers horizontally. Almost like a well-matched tug of war.

Hi Spllosher - welcome to the forum from me as well . Really like the butterfly pictures, and the other things in part 2. Looking forward to seeing more.

There is a butterfly farm near-ish to where I live. Any advice for taking pictures in these environments? Is heat/hummidity a problem?

I have been to a couple of tropical butterfly houses, and at the first one, I had to wait for about 20 minutes for the lens to demist before I started shooting.

These pictures were taken at the second visit, which was at a different venue to the first one, and I did not have to wait at all.

I supoose it will vary with each place.

Give it a go, you may be pleasently surprised at what you get, I was with these ones once I got them on the pc
