Minolta MACRO 200mm F4.0 APO 1:1 + 1.4x II on A900

Unread post by InTheSky »

Well, new father life is not free of time as usual to play with new gears :-) , but there is a few moment passed in the backyard with the Minolta 200mm APO MACRO combined with the 1.4x II (Minolta too).

The 200mm Macro is designed specially to support the Minolta APO converter 1.4x and 2x. With some test at home a few months ago, I have found that the 1.4x really increase detail, and the 2x is not bad at all too, but not good as the 1.4x. Basically it is probably better to upscale a 200mm + 1.4x than using directly the 2x (at least if you really want to be sure on what you are doing the focus in this very small depth of field).

So ... Here is some handle result of the 200mm F4.0 + 1.4x + MFC-1000 with the twins flash. I have managed to take all the picture only at 1:1 on the 200mm.

The image has been took in RAW and converted in lightroom 3.0 BETA 2 with the new option to limit the output file to a specific size , in this case : 2500k. So, it is original size 24MP picture, with a kind of compression :-).

For this first session outdoor, i can't wait to go outside again with this setup, for the moment I really like the result.

Regards,

Frank
