Looks like a type of hydrangea - petiolaris or another cultivar. Your flowers are early by our standards, it will be another month before foxgloves or hydrangea open.

Nice collection you captured there Birma, that one with the yellow leaves is an unusual/attractive one, and the foxglove is a vibrant pink indeed, I've never seen that one before, I wouldn't mind seeing that one again with the leading edge sharpish (if the wind stops blowing it about that is), I like all the rest as well, a great window into your summer.

Thanks for the thoughts and identification tips

Just for Greg, some more shots of the foxglove. A much less windy day, and a different quality of light. The foxglove blooms flower down a stalk, with those at the bottom flowering first. I have included a bird's eye view. Taken with the A700 + Min 50/1.7, first with the CL49-200, the seond without.





Here as well is a wild flower from today's walk in the woods - a Bugle. Taken with the A700 + Min 24-105.

Ah that's good Birma, the Foxglove would not be a very easy flower to photograph either, in close up, with it's longish bell shape. Looks like it's quite a prolific flowerer, going by that stemful of buds.

Foxgloves are biennial, and it's important not to weedkill the plant between years. Today I was cutting down some old dried foxglove stems, and a baby sparrow hopped under my feet. I picked it up and put it into a safer place. Yesterday, a mallard duck with eight ducklings somehow ended up in our gardens (ours and neighbours) and one duckling got lost, Shirley heard it from inside the house (she can hear things which only bats are aware of) and came out and picked it up. Then we found the mum. No cameras, it was enough work just herding a family of ducklings safely down the lane and into allotments near the river. We have dozens of fledgling blackbirds hopping around being fed, and three new Lohman Brown hens from a farm. Flowers? Can't find them for the weeds, but the wildlife and birds love it all.

I like those mini roses Yildiz, we have a few in pots that we forgot to water enough in the dry spell so a couple have just about died off...pity.

That's a striking flower Doc, very Rosy looking in style..nicely photographed as well.
