Hi John - nice to see that you are up and about again, and great to see some more of you pictures. I like the blue colour especially.

Juanito200 wrote:Finally got out today with my camera. Well the front yard anyway. My Gladiolas are starting to bloom. I still not mobile enough to get bend down with the macro lens, so this is with the 50 1.7 and HVL-56am flash. John
Hi John,

I hope you get much better soon. I had no idea that you were discomforted by an unfortunate physical pain.

Get well soon! Sunsets await you. :)

The Gladiolas look enchanting against a well-chosen dark background. Lovve the twirling of purple-blue petal edges...

Thanks for going to all the trouble to shoot this beautful one.

Nice exposure control on the flash John, and very pretty Gladiolas.

It looks bright and cheerful against the darkish background Yildiz, that certainly accentuates the yellow, there's some really sharp bits too, what lens was that?

Thanks, Greg,

:D Those 'sharp bits' are especially 'manufactured' for our dear forum members's eyes who love a sharp, sharp, sharp tomato flower and the out of focus bits are for Yildiz! :D Special service for all in one frame...

The lens happens to be Tamron 90mm F/2.8 macro which performs nicely.

Ha ha, you're a card Yildiz... (that looks like a very nice lens, that Sigma macro) :)
Greg

ps. I went for a quick trip around the yard too see if there was anything around, there was a little blue flower on a shrub, (don't know what it is), and a red flower on a vine (sun was in the wrong position for that one), and one of the common orchids was in flower..in the middle of winter?

Hi Greg!

I think the blue one is called Blue Jasmine but I don't know its proper name in Latin... Blue is an enchanting colour among all the pinks, reds and yellows. It has a cooling effect on the eyes, is very relaxing.

That orchid is indeed a beauty to have around in the garden, winter or not. I suppose it enjoys the semi-shade and the moisture the Australian winters provide.

And, my dear Greg, it's the Tamron macro, not Sigma macro. :D I don't own any Sigma lenses ... yet, that is. I may consider a good fast Sigma zoom some day.

Just how come, one wonders. Is it because majority of your lenses are Sigmas or your fondness for the newly-introduced Sigmas or just a random passing of the word Sigma into your thought patterns? :D No big deal! I was kidding anyway.

Now, at the risk of boring you all with the 'main' subject to the right of where I'm seated at my table, I have two more tomato flower shots. The flowers are getting nicely crowded, so I hope that means that I will see some healthy tomatoes at some point. :D

Yildiz

ps. These shots could be better but we had a whitish sky today.

This one is for the relatively 'sharp-image-loving' members. : )

Really like the ongoing study of the tomato flower Yildiz :D. My vote goes for the dreamy smooth shots.

Great to see some of the flowers from your garden as well Greg - the orchids are impressive, but my favourite are those little blue chaps - what a great colour.

Lots going on in my garden, mostly it being eaten by invaders :x . A bit windy again today. First of all, the roses are out.

Next some Orange Poppies. They start closing up for the night as soon as 5pm, so I missed them at their best today.

I liked this one amidst the lavendar flowers.

This is quite a common garden plant, just can't remember the name at the moment.

This next plant would come under some people's "weed" category. It grows in profusion during the early summer along every roadside. It has many common names but we always call it Cow Parsley. The first two shots are from the road side (with the Min 24-105), the last of a visitor in my garden (back to Min 50 set up).
