Flowers 2010

Not the sort of day to be out amongst the flowers here, so here are some pictures from Cornwall last week. When grown in large numbers, Lavendar provides some nice graphic views. Sadly no smell-o-pictures yet, you'll have to imagine the aroma .







All with A700 and Min 50/1.7 (I like this lens more the more I use it. It is almost becoming the walk-around-lens.)

Sad to see the withering of the Allium. They are so lovely when flowering that this sightbecomes almost unbearable...until next time.

Hi Birma,

The second indeed is a wonder of graphical design by nature! : )

The first is also an excellent classical shot of the Lavender.
I can imagine and get some help from the dried Lavender at home for the enchanting, sobering scent of these lovely flowers.

That yellow one looks like a bright yellow mushroom Sury, and an unusual spidery looking background in the second shot.
I think I'd rather have a better look at the bright red one in the background Shelika, whatever it is, to be honest.

ps. Birma has been busy while I dilly dallied, is that 'it' for Lavendar? or do they open out more?, (not an expert with Lavendar), if so that field will probably be up too your Poppy standard shortly, pity you can't go back for a quick look. Not that I don't mind the nice bright green bristly look and the violet buds? as they are of course.

That is about it for that type, it might come out a little bit more. There are many varieties and they can vary a lot. We have three differnt types in the garden - I'll try and do some comparison shots, although they are almost over. The season is definately turning here - the long grass on the road sides has turned golden in the last two weeks, and the crops are ripening in the fields - I have already seen many of the giant circlular bails in the fields, some wrapped in that horrible black plastic. High summer and harvest are upon us .

Here are some "Wild Flower" shots, also from the Eden Project last week. I like the swathes of colours.







All with A700 + Min 50/1.7.

I also like thess types of shot when they are just oof blur, with just the colours and almost no form, but I think that may be a more personal thing - I suppose they become less a photograph then.

I know what you're saying Birma, artsy effects can be intesting maybe for a large wall mural or lightbox or such, but I like too see the actual flowers myself, I think those photos a great, plenty of variety and different colours.

Sury, there really is a smaller amount of vignetting than you'd expect with the APS-C lens on the A900. Looks like peonies at the front?

That is one of the features of the lens I like. THere is no more than 10% loss of image.
As for flowers, I have no idea. You could be very right about them being peonies.
