Yeah I guess, as long as video doesn't impact any features for using the camera for taking stills I'd be ok with it....and that's highly unlikely from what I've seen so far. So I'd think maybe a good video cam like Yildiz has would be more my ticket I redkon, and it takes very good stills as well, we've all seen the great stills that she's taken with it. Thing is, what does one do, take one DSLR and change lenses more often in fairly shabby conditions (wind,saltpan dust,salt spray) or really bulk up and take two DSLR's and a Video cam...hmmm and I'm still not convinced with the NEX thingy, I'd be interested in it if Sony had made the interface more like a DSLR, seeing as how it has a DSLR sensor I don't grasp why they didn't do that, if people don't like all the buttons they could just switch it over too [Auto] mode and ignore all the buttons, so the simple looking camera with the gimicky cell phone interface 'will sell' argument just doesn't make sense too me. But hey, it's not the first time Sony hasn't made sense to me.

This may come as odd but I always am impressed with the structures the Australian white termites build/construct with perfect natural air-conditioning that works in precision all year round in any weather which can make any architect crazy with jealousy.
I admire the functionality and the no-cost, self-sustained termite homes that would be at leat thousand-story high buildings had they been built to accomodate human beings... A giant lesson in that last photo of yours!

Feral pigs, yes, they indeed messed the place up a little but I'm more worried for the cattle that are drinking water, in case some hungry crocodile would be around.

Great documentary of Australia's wilderness. : )

As for video, I have to admit that the camcorder has eased its way into my life with its highly versatile shooting features...And a camping expedition like yours, Greg, would be an incredible experience in video format, with all kinds of sounds from the wilderness and comments from you guys.

Panasonic has introduced a new 3D-camcorder for the avarage video shooter and those crocodiles would even look more impressive in 3D... : ) More possibilities for visuals are arriving and I wonder what Sony will introduce as a competition since they also have 3D TVs in the works.

I've always found the termite mounds interesting as well, there was variety in them also, that sharp spiky type gave way too roundish type ones after a few hundred km for reasons unknown. There is a rare parrot that nests in them as well in that neck of the woods, the Golden Sholdered Parrot digs a hole in the side and builds a nest, didn't see one though.

That is an interesting photo of those large termite mounds. I did
read somewhere that there are 15 ton of termites for for each person,
I find that hard to believe, but it may well be. Very good photo.

I think the Doc must mean National Geographic.

15 Tons, yeah that one is hard too believe alright, the termite mounds weren't everywere, just a patch here and there with big distances in between, I think they have too have access to moisture down in the ground otherwise they can't do their thing...I think. There was one patch that I'd have loved to get that flashed by before I could even think about a photo composition, it was a patch where there the black spiky ones were intermingled with the yellowish clay rounded type ones, I even saw one black one with a clay one joined onto the side of it, really odd. I saw at least three Perenties (large lizards) standing on the side of the road that we didn't have time to stop and photograph, we were trying to catch up to the other vehicle already as it was, with me wanting to stop and photgraph things.

Thaks Yildiz, Birma, that moon shot and the dim dawn light on the foliage at bottom right is just how it was too the eye at the time, and I knew it was going too be difficult to photograph, I must have taken about half a dozen shots until I got a couple that looked ok on the rear screen. Greg, three more good shoots, nice one of the moon at early dawn
& one from the truck rolling along. Really like the black kite soaring
up there, quite a wing span for his body size, plus a fair size tail.
Good to see the 5-D still being used. I posted a few 5-D photos
last fall when I was deciding which camera, they were fairly
well received, those snow geese and some.

Yes it was Doc who suggested NG. I just figured it out for you. ;^)
It was kind of him.
